Curriculum Overview
Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy, kind members of the community.
We aim to be at the forefront of education giving our pupils a spectacular education.
Work hard. Be kind.
At Mead Vale Primary School, we deliver an inclusive, broad, rich and creative curriculum which provides our pupils with engaging, meaningful learning experiences to inspire, enthuse and challenge learning. Our curriculum is progressively sequenced to allow children to build upon prior knowledge, and develop an overarching narrative of the subjects we teach. The children will experience and understand the world from different perspectives through subject specific studies aimed with the focus of engaging children in their learning through promoting curiosity, imagination and a thirst for new experiences and knowledge. We strive to ensure all of our children feel happy and safe to explore the new, unfamiliar and ask questions.
We aim to prepare our pupils for life in modern British society by fostering in them attitudes and qualities which will enable them to become confident, caring, respectful and responsible citizens. Mead Vale Primary pupils are given a voice and involved in planning and decision making. They are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning both collaboratively and independently. In doing so, we intend to foster a lifelong love of learning.
We are a school with a constantly evolving curriculum which responds to the needs of learners and their interests by enhancing learning experiences and raising awareness of local, national and global issues. Thus, we will develop outward looking pupils who are able to engage in learning about themselves and have an understanding of the wider world and its complex cultures.
Through quality teaching of knowledge, skills and vocabulary across core and foundation subjects, all children are challenged to be inquisitive, compassionate, courageous and creative learners who have the opportunity to influence their own learning.
Our children will be confident in their use of acquired skills, knowledge and core school values which they will use to advance their education and enhance their lives.

An inclusive curriculum
We value the abilities and achievements of all our children, and are committed to providing the best possible environment for learning for each child. As a school, we recognise that each child is an individual and we want each and every child to be the best that they can be: socially, emotionally and academically. We are proud of what we are able to offer. We recognise the entitlement of all pupils to a broad and balanced curriculum. Our Special Education Needs policy acknowledges the need for teaching that is fully inclusive. We ensure that appropriate provision is made for all pupils with SEN.
We aim to:
• provide a differentiated curriculum appropriate to the individual’s needs and ability
• ensure the identification of all children requiring SEN provision as early as possible in their school career
• ensure that parents of children with SEN are kept fully informed of their progress and attainment
Whilst many factors contribute to the range of difficulties experienced by some children, we believe that much can be done to overcome them by parents, teachers and children working together.
Our SEND report provides further information on how we comply with the Equality Act 2010 and Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014
